here's an easy home remedy, which might give you the desired results. Rub a small amount of toothpaste on the scratch and polish the CD with a soft cloth and any petroleum-based polishing solution (like clear shoe polish). Squirt a drop of Brasso and wipe it with a clean cloth.

I use ASUS DVD rom and it can read CD's that other rom can't because of scratches. But this is good alternative in case of my rom don't read a certain cd or dvd. By the way, does it work with blue ray?

Hmmm... Once I had my DVD ROM damaged, when I tried to play scratched DVDs too often in it. Cost me a few bucks. Never going to try that again. Still I could use the DVD disc polishing spray to remove the fingerprints.
