Default How To: Not Get Virus's (w.o protection)

So I have been using my computer for the past 4-5 years with no viruses, and I have only been Infected once (and was my fault)

People dont need to spend so much money on virus software, and do NOT download free virus protection.

Here Is some stuff you should do, to NOT get viruses!

While Downloading:

If you use a torrent site, and/or download movies, ect ect.
Then before you download the file, you need to look at a few things.

Look at the ratings of the file, Look at how many good comments, AND how many bad comments are there. Look to see when the file was uploaded.
How many people downloaded, ect ect. and you should be clean.

I have downloaded games, movies, music ect and never gotten any virus's.

While Browsing The Internet:

Before you click on a link, you should look In the link for some stuff.

If you look In a link and see the word " Redirect " then I personally would not click on It.

Also, when you click on any link at all, Be sure to look all the way at the top above the URL (on the blue bar at uber top of screen)
and If you see the text change to anything that sounds like or is near this:
scanning, virus, free protection, scan now, ect ect. then ALT +F4 all of your opened browsers.

If you download a file and find out that It Is a virus then I've got a good solution:

Delete the file and anything that was Installed with It, then as soon as that Is done do a " System Restore "
Usually found In
" Start>all programs>accessories>system tools>system restore "
And restore It to a point that you know Is legit and virus free.

If you do all of this, then you should be free of any virus.

I have been that way for plenty of time.5yrs+

Unfortunately the antivirus which I am using (McAfee Total Protection) is not detecting all the trojans and spyware nowadays. I think I'll have to uninstall it and install some good AVs like Kasper.

We used to beta test for TrendMicro, and use It on our buisness computers for our internet marketing and website design / hosting companies.

So yes, I stand full behind TrendMicro If you want a AV software, get It.

Yes.. you are right. Trend Micro is not as good as Kasper. Kasper is good but it is expensive. And the pirated versions never works, as they blacklist the pirated keys often.

TrendMicro gets the job done, and very well. You just need to know what to look out for while you are browsing the Internet.

Has anyone used the antivirus which comes along with the Google software bunch? Known as spyware doctor or something like that. Is it a good one? Anyone having experience with it?

Google Pack

Hey, how about filesharing with my friend using flashdisk or CD? If our antivirus is not updated, the virus can't be detected.
Well, but i'm always update AV. I'm use local AV named PCMAV and integrate it with CLAM AV engine. It's state that the program have 600,000 virus database.

If you are sharing something with your friend then be sure to tell him not to give you any viruses.

Personally I dont share any programs I have, I will just give links to where I downloaded It so I cannot get blamed for sending them a virus.

I am very strict about viruses because I know about viruses. I could give you a virus through email that you will never notice and that gives me a copy of each email you ever receive, and tells me what sites you are going to along with user ID's and passwords.

Viruses can be extremely dangerous.

A Virus ruined my best friends life and lead him to suicide.
